BRAND NEW DURAMAX LLY LBZ LMM LML VGT Tune-UP Kit. Fits 2004.5 - 2016. Is your Duramax VGT Turbo not working correctly? In some cases is may make sense to replace the vane position sensor and the solenoid together since they are both fairly commonly needed parts and diagnosing which of the two is causing certain issues can be challenging, especially when the problem is intermittent. Garrett's variable geometry turbocharger allows one turbo to effectively take the place of two.At low RPM's the vanes are configured to make the turbo spool up quickly to minimize lag, at higher RPM's the vane angle is changed to perform like a larger turbo. The variable geometry system uses a PCM commanded electric solenoid to control the flow of pressurized engine oil which moves a piston to control the movement of the variable vanes. A variable geometry turbo that is not working correctly will cause your truck to either be slow taking off or lacking in top-end performance depending on what position the vanes are stuck in.
The most common failure of the VGT turbocharger is a stuck unison ring, or stuck vanes. Before replacing your actuator, it is advisable to disassemble the exhaust side of the turbo which is a relatively simple process and ensure that everything moves freely and that the unison ring is not worn. A wear spot where the actuator arm contacts the unison ring can cause a mechanical jamb. Please note that due to a GM design change, 2004.5 - 2005 LLY models will require a wire harness adapter to plug the sensor into your original harness. Solenoid replaces the following part numbers (and others).
If a delay occurs that is longer than would normally be considered commercially acceptable, we will attempt to contact you. Please take a moment to read it. Applications We guarantee our parts to be as described by part number, picture, and verbiage. While we do our best, vehicle applications, however, simply cannot be guaranteed. In most cases, we do not generate application lists. It is the nature of the auto parts business that, in rare cases, a part will not be correct for a certain vehicle even though it "should" fit. This may occur because of errors on application lists, mid-year production changes, changes to the vehicle since it was built, the fact that a car was not built for the US market, etc. If a part does not fit your vehicle, this does not mean the part is not as described. Problems can be solved much more easily when civility is kept intact.
